Rachael Creal

Originally from Kansas City, Kansas, Rachael received her B.F.A. from the University of Kansas in 1984. She has furthered her education through trips abroad in 1989, 1994, 1998 and 2002, and studied with Marilyn Russell-Bogel, Jean Howard and Roger Shimomuro.

Rachael responds to a broad range of subject matter but the majority of her work is grounded in the human form. Over the past sixteen years she has moved from the nearly exclusive use of oils to the nearly exclusive use of watercolors, which she considers a more spontaneous medium.

Her husband's work caused them to live in many different cities with many different environments. This influenced her perception and style and gave her the opportunity to exhibit in a variety of venues. Her work has been shown in New Orleans, Detroit and Jackson, Michigan, Lawrence, Wichita and Overland Park Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri. Locally her art has been accepted by the annual Spectrum exhibit several times. Her work is in the corporate collections of BlueCross BlueShield of TN, O'Neal Steel of North Carolina, and the private collections of Mr. And Mrs. Ray Feher, Mr. And Mrs. Paul Faulkner and others.

Rachael and her husband retired and moved to Signal Mountain in 1986.
