Mary Petruska is an artist who has been creating and exhibiting work since the mid seventies. Based in New York for most of those years, with the exception of one year in Italy, she now lives in Wildwood, Georgia. She has always worked in series, focusing on one subject for a number of years. The work has swung between years of painting to years of drawing and then printing fabrics. While the subject matter has changed over the years depending on what she is looking at and thinking about, the predilection for detail has remained consistent. She believes that the truth lies in the details. Her work is about finding the essence of what it is she is looking at. Her latest painting series is focused on the land that surrounds her and the sky that she gets lost in.
Her work has been exhibited and sold throughout the U.S., as well as in Japan, Australia, Brazil, France and Italy.
Mary has been featured in many publications including Lookout Outlook, the PULSE. enMODA, FIBERARTS, CRAINS NY Business, SCREENPRINTING, The New York Post and ARTS.
